Give your young artist the tools and confidence to become a better drawer!
Drawing Foundations is a hands-on, four-week course designed to introduce young artists to fundamental drawing techniques through observation, experimentation, and creative practice. Each week focuses on a different skill while building on what students have learned in previous classes.
✏️ WEEK 1 — LINES & CONTOUR
Explore the many ways artists use line! Students will experiment with continuous line, blind contour, contour drawing, and expressive lines while learning to slow down and really observe what they see.
🍎 WEEK 2 — STILL LIFE
Learn how to draw objects from observation while exploring shapes, placement, composition, proportion, and detail. Students will create their own finished still-life drawing.
🐾 WEEK 3 — DRAWING ANIMALS
Learn how to break animals down into simple shapes and forms. Students will explore proportion, gesture, texture, and detail to create a finished animal drawing.
📐 WEEK 4 — GRID DRAWING & PROPORTION
Discover how artists use grids to understand proportion, scale, and placement. Students will work section by section to create an accurately proportioned finished drawing.
